Census of South Australian plants, algae and fungi

The Census of South Australian plants, algae and fungi provides a summation of the current state of scientific knowledge of the flora of South Australia, as reviewed by the taxonomic botanists and research associates of the State Herbarium of South Australia. It covers all major flora groups for which the State Herbarium is responsible: Vascular plants (flowering plants, conifers and ferns), bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, hornworts), macro-fungi, algae and lichens.

The Census lists current scientific names of plants with their regional distribution within South Australia. Important former names (synonyms) are provided with each current name. Suffix and prefix codes provide further information, e.g. on the native or naturalised status, conservation rating and declared status for invasive species.

The 5th edition of the Census of South Australian vascular plants was published as hardcopy in 2005 (as Journal of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens Supplement no. 1; 3.2mb PDF). Since then it is maintained in a database and was until recently available online through the eFloraSA website. The Census is currently administered and edited by the following members of the State Herbarium of South Australia (AD): P.J. Lang, J. Kellermann, T.A. Hammer & M. Waycott.
